Estonian Independence Day: A Sauna Celebration

From our friends at the Estonian Embassy:

Dear friends of sauna,

The last few years have been difficult, first with Covid and now war in Europe. Both our physical and mental health have taken a toll. It is crucial to overcome challenges, but also to be kind to ourselves.

In Estonia, this year is designated as the Year of Sauna, therefore we have decided to mark our independence day 🇪🇪 accordingly. So together we can build resilience and boost our physical and mental wellbeing.

As the 24th February 2023 also marks a year since the beginning of the full-scale Russian military invasion to Ukraine, it is more essential than ever to remind how important it is to look after ourselves to be able to persevere, increase our resilience, together with our Ukrainian friends 🇺🇦.

We invite you to commemorate this day with us and we welcome you to open your saunas on Estonia’s 105th Independence Day, either for your friends and family or to the general public all over the country, to share your love for wellness.

Please register if you would like to participate in the UK-wide sauna-celebration by 13th February at Kadri-Liis.Turton@mfa.ee.

We shall send you an Estonian flag to mark the day and kindly ask you to take a photo (or short video) to share your celebration on the 24th February with us. With your permission, we will share this on our Embassy’s social media accounts. If you would like us to tag you, please provide necessary details.
