Laugh-guss with Barry Sykes

  • SweHeat Sauna 1 Dock Road London, England, E16 1AH United Kingdom (map)

Join artist Barry Sykes for an evening introducing you a new technique he calls 'Laugh-guss', that combines the breathing and movement teachings of Laughter Yoga with the German 'aufguss' sauna ritual, for double the intensity and endorphin rush.

For this session Barry will start with a short talk on his practice and the history and mechanics of Laughter Yoga - a form of fake, forced laughter designed to jump start emotions and dissolve social conventions. The group will then join him in an hour long sequence of exercises that gradually move from gentle focussed breathing to energetic, full strength collective glee! With plenty of chances to pause, reflect or cold plunge whenever you feel like it.

Feedback from Barry's previous sauna and laughter yoga events:

"Awkwardness just dissolves into sweat”

"Extreme in all the right ways”

“I was feeling stressed and it really helped!”

“Energising and hilariously ridiculous”

“Entertaining, insightful and joyous”
