Raise a concern about a sauna experience or site.

We want every sauna experience in the UK to feel safe, welcoming, and enriching. If you’ve visited a sauna operated by a British Sauna Society Member and feel that something wasn’t right, you can use this form to let us know. Please use the Sauna Map to verify whether a sauna you have visited is a BSS Member. Please note, we cannot consider complaints against non-member saunas or individuals.

Your feedback helps us understand where standards may not have been met. All BSS Operator, Practitioner, and Supplier Members agree to uphold the values and commitments outlined in the British Sauna Society Charter, including high standards of build, safety, professionalism, cleanliness, and respect.

If your experience fell short of these expectations, we’d like to hear from you.

What this form is for.

You can use this form to tell us about:

  • Safety or hygiene concerns

  • Poor or unprofessional conduct

  • Exclusion, discrimination, or unwelcoming behaviour

  • Misleading information or inconsistent service

  • Non-members using the BSS Approved Member logo

  • Any situation where you feel the sauna may not be meeting the BSS standards

Please describe the issue as clearly as possible, including how it relates to the standards set out in our charter.

How your submission will be used.

  • Your message goes directly to the BSS team

  • We do not respond to individual complaints

  • Each submission is logged and reviewed periodically

  • We look for patterns of concern, not single incidents

  • If repeated issues arise about the same member, this may trigger a review of their membership

  • Memberships are reviewed annually and any complaints may be taken into consideration.

This approach helps us protect the integrity of BSS membership while keeping the process fair and proportionate.

When you should use another service instead.

The BSS is not an emergency, safeguarding, or consumer rights authority. If your concern involves:

  • Immediate threat to safety

  • Violence, harassment, or criminal behaviour

  • Serious safeguarding concerns

  • Fire safety risks

  • Licensing or environmental health issues

  • Fraud or unlawful business practices

Please contact the appropriate authority first, such as:

  • Police: 999 (emergency) or 101 (non-emergency)

  • Local council / Environmental Health

  • Fire and Rescue Service (non-emergency line)

  • Trading Standards

  • Health and Safety Executive (HSE)

We will not intervene in matters that should be handled by the appropriate legal or regulatory body.

Thank you for helping protect sauna culture.

Your feedback helps strengthen the quality, safety, and integrity of authentic sauna across the UK. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and we review all submissions with care.
