Barry Sykes, British Sauna Society 'Artist in Residence', will use the stepped seating of the Sweheat sauna cabin as an ideal life drawing studio, in this chance to relax, experiment, and understand more about how our bodies behave in the heat.
Barry will be your tutor and your model, using a variety of his 'Errorless Drawing' exercises that encourage playful, loose gestures over perfect results. Enjoy three rounds of drawing in the heat with regular breaks to cool off, see each others work, and even cold plunge. All materials provided. Suitable for absolute beginners or those looking to experiment with their technique.
Barry Sykes is an artist, with a practice built around the overlap of drawing, making and performance. He is the founder of the Sauna Reading group and currently developing an Arts Council funded research project called #SaunaAsStudio that examines the potentials of bathing culture through various events and activities.
